After a gap-up opening, Nifty faced profit booking at higher levels, dragging the index below 22,650. However, buying interest at lower levels triggered a sharp rebound, pushing it above 23,000. Some profit booking towards the closing trimmed gains, but the index eventually settled positive with a gain of 1.78 percent.
